Black Panther: The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas is the first book to show the revolutionary and groundbreaking posters and graphics of the Black Panther Party.
The Black Panther Party was founded in 1965 in the aftermath of the assassination of Malcolm X and set forth a revolutionary agenda of Black liberation to end the subjugation of Black Americans. The Black Panther newspaper was founded to articulate the party’s message, and artist Emory Douglas became the paper’s art director and later the party’s minister of culture.
This book is a collection of the revolutionary art of Emory Douglas.
