For Submissions

Submission Guidelines

At 1804 Books, we are dedicated to publishing works on political, economic, social, cultural, and historical themes connected to socialist theory, practice, and organizing.

Our catalog is not designed for a small circle of specialists or academics. Instead, we aim to serve a broad audience of activists, organizers, and everyday people interested in socialist ideas and transforming their reality.

We welcome digital manuscript submissions that align with this mission.

What to Include

Please submit your manuscript as a single file (PDF or Word document). Along with the manuscript, your submission must include a detailed synopsis covering three key areas:

1. The Content

  • What story do you want to tell?
  • What specific point are you making, or what debate do you aim to intervene in?

2. The Concept & Methodology

  • How do you plan to proceed?
  • What is the structure of the narrative? (e.g., Is it based on facts/figures, interviews, your own memoir, or portraits of selected individuals?)

3. The Goal & Audience

  • Why do you want to write a book about this specific topic?
  • What do you hope to achieve with this work?
  • Who is your target audience, and do you have any proposals to engage with them through the publication of this book beyond book sales?

How to Submit

Please email your materials to info@1804books.com

  • Subject Line: Please use "MANUSCRIPT" in the subject line.
  • Format: Ensure all materials are contained in a single file.

Review Process

Our manuscript review process typically takes three months.

Because we are a small team dedicated to publishing and organizing, we are unable to provide individual feedback on rejected manuscripts. If you have not heard back from us after three months, please assume that your manuscript was not accepted.
