In the heart of Nablus, Palestine, a legacy took root in 1950 when master weaver Marwan Nabulsi (Abu Bassam) founded a textile factory devoted to traditional Palestinian garments, including the keffiyeh. More than a workplace, the factory became a living archive of craftsmanship, memory, and cultural identity—its looms carrying stories passed from one generation to the next.

In 1987, during the First Intifada, the factory was forcibly shut down. Its machines fell silent, and with them, a vital thread of Palestinian material culture was interrupted for more than three decades. Yet the story did not end there.

In 2023, against all odds, the factory reopened. The original looms were restored, and skilled artisans returned to their craft, reviving a tradition that refuses erasure. Once again, keffiyehs are woven in Nablus—each one carrying the weight of history, resistance, and continuity.

This collection, presented in collaboration with 1804 Books, features keffiyehs handwoven from 90% cotton, using time-honored patterns rooted in Palestinian heritage. Subtle variations and occasional loose threads are not flaws, but markers of authenticity—evidence of human hands, living labor, and an unbroken cultural lineage.

Through this collaboration, Hala Palestine and 1804 Books come together to honor Palestinian storytelling in all its forms—written, woven, and lived. Each keffiyeh is not only a garment, but a material testimony to survival, dignity, and cultural resilience.

By choosing a piece from this collection, you are supporting the revival of a family-owned Palestinian factory and affirming the enduring connection between culture, memory, and liberation.
